17 Colombian soldiers charged with the assassination of civilians later disguised as Farc guerrilla members in what came to be known as the "false positives scandal" will be freed today because the deadlines in the trial were not met. Colombian Minister of Defense Gabriel Silva has asked the judiciary to clarify the facts and procedures on the scandal. And the local mayor of Soacha, a town close to Bogotá where the victims were from, has pleaded for justice and is hoping there will be no immunity for these crimes.
