Human Rights Watch (HRW) presented this Wednesday a report criticizing the Colombian government's response to new paramilitary gangs. The document titled "Paramilitaries' Heirs: The New Face of Violence in Colombia", points out that the group still has over 4,000 members operating in 24 of the 32 departments of the country. Jose Miguel Vivanco, HRW's Americas director, advised that "these successor groups are committing horrific atrocities, and they need to be stopped".
