Antanas Mockus, from the Green Party, sent a public letter to fellow candidate Sergio Fajardo, from Compromiso Ciudadano, asking him to join forces and specifically beckoned Fajardo to abandon his candidacy and join him as his vicepresidential formula. Fajardo agreed but asked for a week to figure out how to join workforces and programs. This alliance is key to capture the independent vote since these two candidates, both of them mathematicians with academic background, find their support in young people, intellectuals and urban people.
