Bush finally sends aid to Colombia

Oct.31 -- After pressing Congress all year to approve a Colombia trade pact, the Bush administration is only now releasing millions in American aid enacted last December to help President Alvaro Uribe’s government curb the violence against union workers.

Bush finally sends aid to Colombia

An estimated $19.8 million was set aside for the Colombia Prosecutor General’s office in the fiscal 2008 foreign aid budget, including funds for witness protection and human rights programs and the prosecution of paramilitary forces accused of killing civilians.
