Clinton Defends Military Bases In Colombia
June 9--U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that a deal allowing the United States to operate military bases in Colombia respects the territorial integrity of all nations.
Ecuador's President, Rafael Correa, who met with Clinton for about three hours, said the South American regional alliance, known as Unasur, was concerned about the bases.
Clinton said that her nation wants to reduce the dangers created for Colombia and for Latin America by narcotics traffickers and by the Colombian guerrillas known as the FARC.
