Colombia national team coach Eduardo Lara has made the decision to resign after his side's failure to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Lara took over from Jorge Luis Pinto halfway through qualification and guided Colombia to seventh spot in the table. Colombia won four matches under Lara, lost five games and drew once.

"I'm retiring as coach of the senior national team and will continue my work with the Federation's junior divisions," Lara was quoted as saying by Colombian reporters.
