Colombia: Oil, Gas Reserves Have Increased Substantially

Jun 19 -- Colombian oil and gas reserves have increased "substantially," Armando Zamora, head of Colombia's oil and gas licensing agency, said Wednesday.

He said the increased reserves are from existing fields, not new discoveries.

Zamora said the mines and energy minister, Hernan Martinez, will give more details later this week.

Colombia's May crude oil output rose to an average 651,000 barrels a day, from 579,000 a year earlier, the government oil-licensing agency reported on its Web site Wednesday. Oil production in May was higher than in April, when output reached a revised average of 649,000 barrels a day, the National Hydrocarbons Agency report said.
