Colombian trade pact could mean more NE Florida exports

Jul 13--The prospects of the passage of a free trade pact that could spur 30 percent more exports from Jacksonville to Colombia look promising after President Barack Obama recently voiced his support.

The pact that would reduce and, in some cases, eliminate duties for American exports hasn’t been pushed to the Congress floor for a vote because it lacked necessary support. Most Colombian imports to the U.S. aren’t subject to duties, but tariffs on U.S. exports heading to Colombia can be as high as 35 percent.
