Colombia's indigenous population 'disappearing' in civil war

Feb 23--The Colombian government has been urged to do more to protect the country's indigenous population, which is coming under increased attack from all sides in the ongoing military conflict.

The communities are reported to have suffered a significant rise in abuses such as killings, sexual abuse of women, recruitment of child soldiers and the persecution of indigenous leaders.

Amnesty International, which has released a new report into the alleged crimes today, has blamed guerrilla groups, the security forces and paramilitaries all for being behind the attacks.
