FARC threaten Dutch charity head

Dec 31 -- The Colombian FARC rebel group has placed Dutch activist Lidwien Zumpolle on its death list. Ms Zumpolle heads Hands for freedom, an organisation that helps guerrillas lay down their weapons and join civil society.

Other members of the charity are also being threatened by the FARC. In a reaction, Ms Zumpolle says she is not surprised and vows to continue her work. She recently reported that former rebels had told her that Tanja Nijmeijer, a Dutch woman who joined the FARC as a student in 2002, was very likely still alive.
