Indians Find Bodies of Rebel Victims in Colombia

Mar 31 -- Four additional bodies have been found by the more than 600 Awa Indians searching for as many as 17 of their compatriots thought to have been slain by leftist FARC rebels, an official in the southern Colombian province of Nariño told Efe on Monday.

The discovery took place in a remote jungle area belonging to the Tortugaña-Telembi reservation, some 700 kilometers (435 miles) from Bogota, Xavier Hernandez said on the phone from Pasto, the provincial capital.

Hernandez said that he heard about the four newly found bodies from his permanent contact with the Awa leaders who went into the jungle a week ago in search of compatriots who have been missing since the beginning of February.
