Strike delays Colombia court cases

Oct 7 -- The wheels of justice have ground to a halt for thousands of people in Colombia. Judicial workers went on strike in early September, demanding higher pay and better working conditions.

The work stoppage has delayed thousands of court cases, including the prosecutions of about 2,200 suspects considered dangerous.

On Monday, the Colombian government proposed pay raises for judges and other employees of the judicial branch, a government statement said.
