Uribe third term plan rejected

Oct. 30 -- Colombian legislators have struck down plans that would have allowed Alvaro Uribe, the president, to run for a third term in office at elections in 2014.

The House of Representatives voted by 75 to 40 on Wednesday to reject a paragraph of a political reform bill, aimed at tackling corruption, proposing to permit additional terms.
