Villegas shoots 63 to lead at Buick Invitational

Woods' absence hits attendance and atmosphere.
 
The organisers of the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines may be bereft at the absence of Tiger Woods, who has won this event for the last four years, but there is one man who is not.

Camilo Villegas won the BMW International and the Tour Championship on the PGA Tour last autumn, both of them events at which the world No1 Woods was unable to defend his title because of his knee injury, and the Colombian gave himself a realistic chance of continuing his Woods-less winning streak yesterday when he shot a nine-under par 63 to take a three-shot lead over the field.
