It's important to count friends and enemies in Latin America. Colombia is a friend. Venezuela most certainly is not. Congress should keep that in mind as Democrats block the deal, citing a negative impact on U.S. jobs. That's the same spiel coming from the Teamsters.

We think: Congress shouldn't stiff-arm a free-trade pact with Colombia
Sept 24 -- As Congress continues to put the freeze on a Colombian free-trade deal, it might look toward the Caribbean Sea. That's where Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez will soon welcome the arrival of a Russian naval squadron to conduct joint maneuvers with his nation.
