Another former military noncommissioned officer detained for Trujillo massacre

Agents from the Technical investigative corps (CTI) of the prosecutor general’s office captured Gildardo Silva Rojas retired sergeant of the Colombian national army today, for his presumed responsibility in the crimes of homicide and forced disappearance in the Trujillo massacre that took place between 1989 and 1993.

The noncommissioned officer was member of the S2 section of military intelligence and also belonged to the Special intelligence and combat group battalion Palacé de Buga in 1990. Silva Rojas was currently working as a taxi driver, but a prosecutor form de National Unit of Human Rights and International humanitarian law called him for a hearing.

Already four people have been arrested for these acts that ended up in the death of more than 350 people. Last week lieutenant colonel Wilfredo Ruiz Silva and retired noncommissioned officers César Augusto Corredor Cetina and Jairo Trejos Parra were arrested, as well as former mayor of Trujillo Ruben Dario Agudelo Puerta. More than 20 people are being charged with the crimes of first degree murder and forced disappearances and another 60 people are being investigated for this crime as well.
