Around 380 thousand people were displaced in Colombia in 2008: NGO

According to Colombian NGO Codhes, at least 380 thousand people were displaced in 2008 in the country as a result of the armed conflict and the fumigation of illegal crops. This means that there was a 24.4 per cent increase in the number of IDPs in comparison to those of 2007. According to the government, there are around 3 million displaced citizens in the country.
