Colombia and Ecuador to reestablish relations

23 de febrero de 2010

Colombian president Álvaro Uribe and Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa are ready to reestablish bilateral relations. During the Rio Group Summit, the two heads of state had the first official meeting since 2008, when Colombian Army attacked a Farc camp in Ecuadorian territory. Correa said to the press that he hoped both countries could normalize diplomatic relations, although without a timetable, “as soon as possible (…) without ever forgetting the past so as not to repeat it, but looking towards the future".
