Colombia lost to Venezuela and limits its chances of qualifying to the WC

1 de abril de 2009

Two goals in the second half, near the end of the march, gave Venezuela a very important win against Colombia in Puerto Ordaz and leaves Eduardo Lara’s team in a spot of trouble towards qualifying to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Venezuela’s goals were scored by Nicolas Fedor, who came of the bench to score the opening, and Juan Arango, who made it 2-0 with an impressive free kick. Colombia played most of the match with ten men, after Abel Aguilar was sent off after getting his second bookable offence.

Both Colombia and Venezuela had to win the match to continue with real possibilities in the Qualifying stages.
