Colombia names squad for qualifying matches

2 de octubre de 2008

Colombia's football team newly appointed manager, Eduardo Lara, has named the squad for the two World Cup Qualifying matches against Paraguay and Brazil. The main news is that veteran players, like Miguel Calero, Gerardo Bedoya and Mario Alberto Yepes, have been called up, after not having many opportunities with former manager Jorge Luis Pinto.

Apart from the experienced players, Lara also called up a young contingent. This was expected, since Lara was Colombia's youth coach before accepting the post with the main team. Among those young talents are Freddy Montero, one of the country's leading goalscorers, and Carlos Darwin Quintero, who currently plays for Deportivo Pereira.

The list of players who will face the upcoming matches is the following.

Goalkeepers: Agustín Julio and Miguel Calero.
Defenders: Mario Alberto Yepes, Camilo Zúñiga, Luis Amaranto Perea, Pablo Armero,
