Colombia will preside the Security Council

From today and until the end of April Colombia will preside the United Nations (UN) Security Council. The presidency of the Council is rotated alphabetically among its members every month. During this time Colombian ambassador to the UN, Néstor Osorio, will try to give prominence to the discussion on Haiti’s reconstruction. It will also be necessary to discuss the stages of the conflict in Libya and the sanctions against Iran and Sudan for not carrying out the UN resolutions. President Juan Manuel Santos will chair the Council on April 6.
