24 de septiembre de 2008

Colombian president Álvaro Uribe spoke today in front of the U.N general summit. Beside defending the policy of democratic security, one of the pillars of his government, he also assured that Colombia will submit voluntarily to the new periodical examination of Human Rights on the 10th of December. He said that: “this new mechanism, created by the United Nations, ads to the popular discussion of our new course of action on this subject, to the work with the High Commissioner’s office and with the OEA, and to the policy of truth, justice and reparation to the victims that have to heal their wounds with the historical memory and help put out the fires of violence”. He also spoke about the social goals the country has traced and hopes to fulfill by 2015.
