Colombian government will continue to study Walid Makled’s extradition

4 de abril de 2011

Foreign Minister, María Ángela Holguín, stated that Colombian government would not decide where to extradite Venezuelan citizen Walid Makled, accused of drug trafficking, before April 15. Both Venezuelan and the United States’ governments have requested the extradition of Makled, who is detained in Colombia. President Juan Manuel Santos initially promised to Hugo Chávez that Makled would be extradited to Venezuela, but he has refused to confirm that information, partly due to the United States’ pressure.
