Colombian leading columnist has died in Bogotá

24 de febrero de 2009

Roberto Posada García-Peña died in a hospital in the Colombian capital in the past hours. Nicknamed D’Artagnan, this 54 year-old journalist was the grandsons of Roberto García-Peña, who was director of El Tiempo newspaper for 42 years. He also presented a television programme, in which he interviewed prominent politicians and members of the Colombian society while cooking.

During his period as columnist in El Tiempo, Posada was controversial. He defended Ernesto Samper’s presidency (1994-98) even amidst the scandal in which part of his political campaign was financed by drug money.
