Colombian Vice-President visits Europe

25 de febrero de 2011

Angelino Garzón, the Vice-President of Colombia, is visiting some European countries in order to promote the ratification of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union. During the three days visit Garzón will be in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. He will meet government representatives from the three countries, parliamentary groups, employers, unions and human rights NGOs. The FTA negotiations between the European Union, Peru and Colombia ended in May 2010, and the treaty is currently in process of legal review. Dozens of NGOs are opposed to the ratification of the FTA because they argue that Colombia has not made sufficient progress in protecting Human Rights.
