Demobilized paramilitary declares that kingpin Pablo Escobar was not killed by police but by AUC leader Carlos Castaño

Demobilized AUC paramilitary José Antonio Hernandez, alias “John” declared for the prosecutor general’s office in the city of Bucaramanga, that the biggest drug traffic kingpin Pablo Escobar was killed by deceased paramilitary leader Carlos Castaño and not by the police, as the official version states.

“John” said that a group known as the Pepes (Perseguidos por Pablo Escobar –Followed by Pablo Escobar) which was also lead by Colombian Self-defenses leader Castaño received help from the CIA and the DEA to assassin Escobar. He also assured that Castaño himself shot Escobar on the roof of a house in Medellín on December 2nd of 1993.
