Eight former soldiers were convicted by a judge for the assassination of Andrés Pesca and Eduardo Garzón, two young men that were presented by the soldiers as guerilla members that supposedly died in clashes with the Army. It was a strategy to show positive results to their superiors. The soldiers were found guilty of homicide, forced disappearing and falsification of public document. Their sentence will be decided in the coming weeks.
