Elite group will be created to investigate the deaths of young men found in Ocaña

Colombian vice president Francisco Santos announced yesterday that a special group will be created to investigate de disappearances and deaths of the young men whose bodies were found in the north of the country. The special team will consist of members of the judicial police and forensic attorneys. This decision was made after an emergency meeting of very high profile, with defense minister Juan Manuel Santos and attorney general Mario Iguarán among others, was called in.
After the meeting ended vice president Santos gave public declarations and said that they would start using a new protocol to identify the bodies and that the investigation would have some the best people in the field to try and get results as soon as possible. Santos did make a big call out to the press, asking them to be more prudent with the case and that “no one has the right to prejudge, because that is what justice is for”. The reason for this petition is that some media, and even the U.N., have spoken of possible extra judicial executions and have pointed to the police and armed forces as possibly responsible.
