Jorge Briceño Suárez, the No. 2 leader in the FARC guerrilla and who was commonly known as “Mono Jojoy” was killed on thursday in an Army operative in Sowthwestern Colombian Meta department. Mono Jojoy was that insurgent group’s military leader and responsible for hundreds of crimes. “This is the biggest blow the FARC has suffered in its history”, said Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos from New York, where he attended the United Nations General Assembly. 20 other guerrillas were killed in the action.
