Former head of the Armed Forces appointed ambassador to UN

The former commander of the Armed Forces, General Freddy Padilla de León was appointed as the new Colombian ambassador to the United Nations. Padilla resigned last May as the head of the nations military forces after 5 years in the job, and will begin carrying out his new tasks next August 7.
