Minister of Interior and Justice, Germán Vargas Lleras, stated that Colombian government will formally request the extradition of María del Pilar Hurtado, former director of the Intelligence Agency (DAS). Hurtado, who is living under the asylum figure in Panama, is accused of conspiracy to commit aggravated crime, illegal violation of communications and falsification of public document, among others, which is why the Attorney General’s office issued a security measure against her. However Ricardo Martinelly, Panama’s president, said that “Hurtado will remain in our country because she has territorial asylum and we have to respect that”.
