"I prefer the death penalty to admitting the crimes I've been charged with": David Murcia

David Murcia Guzmán, the head of company that has been at the centre of the recent pyramid scheme scandal in Colombia, expressed in his first interview after being arrested three weeks ago that he is willing to spend "20, 30 or 40 years in prison, to be sentenced to death, to be humilliated", but that he is not prepared to accept the charges against him.

In the interview, by local news channel Citynoticias, Murcia did not give many details about his company financing political campaigns around the country. "That will be known when time comes", he added.

Murcia also rejected links to drug traffickers, like alias "Chupeta" or alias "Macaco" (an ex paramilitary leader). "What you've said about Macaco and Chupeta is a set-up, a show to discredit my name", he said.
