Improving ties with Venezuela isn’t bad for Colombia-U.S. relations: Foreign Minister

29 de noviembre de 2010

Colombia’s Foreign Minister María Angela Holguín said that the country's attempts to improve ties with Venezuela shouldn’t affect Colombia’s "broad agenda" with Washington. "We do not believe that the relations with Venezuela in any way can sink the agenda with the United States“, said Holguín on Sunday during an interview to a radio station. “One can not conclude that good ties with Latin American countries exclude (the U.S.)". The statement was made just after American columnist Andres Oppenheimer had suggested, in an article, that Colombia is taking a step back from the United States.
