Indigenous march suspended temporarily after the death of two protesters

Only one day after the start of the march from Piendamó (Cauca) to the city of Cali the leaders of the peaceful native Colombian’s protest decided to suspend it for some time, after they had reached the municipality of Santander de Quilchao.

There are two reasons for this sudden stop in the manifestation. The first is that they are waiting for other native communities and organizations to catch up with them and join the walking protest. The second one is the deaths of two people during yesterday’s march. The authorities informed that those two men died after a homemade bomb they where manipulating exploded in their hands.

But CNN reported and presented footage today that showed the police shooting randomly into the crowds, which would explain why one of the death victims was found with a bullet wound in his head. The authorities assured the international network that they would look into what really happened during the march and why these two men, a native and a peasant man, died while participating in it.
