Indigenous protesters wish to meet with President Uribe in Piendamó

Yesterday after an assembly went on for many hours the almost 40.000 indigenous people that were in Cali decided to return to their reservations and reunite next Sunday with President Álvaro Uribe in Piendamó (in the state of Cauca in the South west of the country) and not in the city of Popayan as Uribe had suggested.

The natives decided to change the place of the meeting because all the protesters want to be present and because they want to show him the place were the protest started and were the public forces treated them cruelly and, according to them, stole some of their animals and electrical appliances. They emphasized that if Uribe does not show up and does not accept their conditions for the negotiations they will start another march, this time to Bogotá.
