Opposition senator leaves party

Due to his continuous disagreements with Polo Democrático’s leadership, senator Gustavo Petro announced he was leaving the left-leaning party. The senator did not speak about his immediate political plans, but it is known that he might form a new political party with members of other progressive wings such as the Colombian Liberal Party.
