Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santos, announced that six state employees were arrested on Monday because of their participation in a huge corruption scandal within the heath insurance sector. According to the investigation, at least 17 million dollars of state money have been lost through irregular dealings among the Ministry of Social Protection. The fraudulent activities include “monumental budget overruns and dead people receiving benefits”, President Santos said. In addition to the six employees detained, there are 19 arrest warrants issued.
