Santos: FARC are no longer in Venezuela

12 de abril de 2011

Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santos, said during his official visit to Spain that he is convinced that there are no more FARC guerilla camps in Venezuela. Santos explained that his new position is based on what Venezuelan President, Hugo Chávez, has told him during their last meetings. This declarations have generated controversy in Colombia because Santos was the hardest criticizer of the FARC camps in Venezuela when he was the Defense Minister of Álvaro Uribe’s administration. Indeed, Uribe has been debating Santos declarations through his Twitter profile, arguing that it is evident that the FARC still have an important presence in the neighboring country.
