The European Union will negotiate a free trade agreement with Colombia

The European Union announced earlier this morning the beginning of the negotiations towards a free trade agreement with Colombia and Perú. The decision was based on the delays that other members of the Andean Community such as Bolivia and Ecuador have had in making up their minds. Colombian President Álvaro Uribe was pleased with the decision and declared his expectation that this agreement would stimulate employment and foreign investment in the country.
