Two extradited paramilitaries sentenced to 20 years in prison

9 de octubre de 2008

Ramiro ‘Cuco’ Vanoy and Francisco Zuluaga, also known as ‘Gordo Lindo’, are the first two of the 14 paramilitary leaders extradited to the United States to finish their trials. Both declared themselves guilty on charges of drug traffic and have been sentenced to 20 years in prison. ‘Cuco’ Vanoy and ‘Gordo Lindo’ were both famous drug traffickers long before they, apparently, paid millions of dollars to be included in the paramilitary organizations so they could demobilize and benefit from the Justice and Peace process with the government, which offered them a much lighter punishment than if they would have submitted themselves to ordinary justice.
