Vatican is authorized by Colombian government to help in seeking the release of six hostages

13 de enero de 2009

Álvaro Uribe Vélez declared he would be pleased to receive help from the Vatican in negotiating the hostages freedom. The FARC requested last week an international representative to carry on with the process. The authorization of the intervention by the Church would meet both the FARC and government conditions. Senator Piedad Córdoba and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) were until now the only ones authorized to participate in the liberation.
