The alleged Venezuelan drug lord Walid Makled was extradited to Venezuela after spending nine months in a Colombian prison. Makled is accused of having strength links with members of the Venezuelan political establishment. American and Venezuelan governments asked for his extradition, but President Juan Manuel Santos finally decided to send him to the neighboring country because they issued the first official request. Because of all the information Makled has, it is clear that his trial will be one of the most controversial in Venezuela’s recent history. After receiving him this Monday, Venezuelan authorities assured that his rights will be respected.
