Worldwide operation against drug trafficking network has 111 people arrested, 21 of them in Colombia

Operation Titan, as it was called, started two years ago but only until now has it lead to the arrest of 111 people that worked in a huge international drug traffic network. The National Intelligence Service (DAS) and the prosecutor general’s office captured 21 people in Colombia who worked for this criminal enterprise in an operation that took place in the cities of Bogotá, Cali, Medellín and Pereira. Among the people arrested where at least three foreigners who apparently helped send drugs and money from the laundering to the Middle East.

The prosecutor general’s office informed to the El Tiempo newspaper's webpage that this network helped launder money from the cartel del Norte del Valle and the cartel of Antioquia, as well as that of paramilitary groups. More than 1.700 million COP (about 73 million USD) were confiscated as well as 360 kilos of cocaine, two airplanes, one boat, cars and jewelry, among other things.
