Ecuador’s ministry of attorney says that Reyes computer might have been manipulated

2 de octubre de 2008

Radio station Cadena Ser from Spain revealed that they had access to a judicial report of the ministry of attorney of Ecuador that says that Colombia gave the Interpol a copy of the computer or Farc guerrilla leader Raúl Reyes, who was brought down by the Colombian armed forces on March 1st , that had been manipulated.

According to the report that was made in July, the Colombian army manipulated the archives in the days between the 1st and the 3rd of March, immediately after they attacked the Farc camp in Ecuador’s territory.

The analysis made by Ecuador gathers up that of the 45 archives that Colombia delivered with the documents that involve Ecuadorian citizens, 40 have the same creation date, last modification and access, and above all, time marcs and prints all previous to March 1st.

Colombia had recognized that they had altered the proves, since they accessed the computer in the days after they seized it to get to know the information it contained as a preventive measure.

The European police denied the indications of manipulation even though they recognized that they only got to work on digital copies and never on the original hard drives.
