Farc will not liberate kidnapped Lizcano

20 de octubre de 2008

An official press release by Farc confirmed that Colombia's main guerilla group is not negotiating with the Government to free political hostage Óscar Tulio Lizcano, who has been kidnapped for eight years.

According to the country's High Commissioner for Peace, Luis Carlos Restrepo, Lizcano is seriously ill and should be freed as soon as possible.

Lizcano, a conservative politician, was taken hostage in August 2000. A proof of life was received last April, in which Lizcano said he was a "sinking ship with the headlights on".
