Former head of intelligence agency could be involved in historical assassination
Miguel Maza Márquez, former head of the Administrative Security Department (DAS, Colombia’s intelligence agency) has been included by the Prosecutor’s Office in the 1989 assassination of Luis Carlos Galán, a liberal leader who was campaigning for presidency.
Mario Iguarán, Prosecutor General, confirmed that he is interested in asking Maza Márquez vital questions which could resolve the doubts that arose since the murder near Bogotá. One of the main questions is why the DAS changed Galán’s security system (bodyguards) days before he was killed.
Maza said he felt sad about being accused and stated that his main goal as head of DAS was to combat those sort of crimes.
