One of Colombia’s late druglord Pablo Escobar’ hippos was shot dead in Antioquia province, after it was accused by Corantioquia, a regional organization which aims at protecting natural resources, of attacking fishermen and transmitting illnesses. The animal was originally bought by Escobar for his private ranch, but after the druglord’s death, it lived freely in the Magdalena River. Other two hippos are still alive, but are also being searched for by Corantioquia.
