Senate approves FTA with Canada

The Colombian Senate gave a green light to the FTA with Canada. Luis Guillermo Plata, Colombia’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, described this new decision as an important step in the commercial policies the government has been trying to put in practice.

The FTA has passed a first step in the Canadian Parliament and awaits a second phase, which will take place in the second semester of 2009.
