Winter emergency is declared in Bogotá

15 de abril de 2011

Bogotá’s Mayor, Samuel Moreno, declared an emergency state in the city due to the intense winter. The decision was based on the high level that the Bogotá River is presenting. The heavy rain that has been affecting the capital city in the past days has caused the river to reach threatening levels. If the river burst its banks, several communities will be at imminent risk, which is why local authorities are preparing prevention plans in order to avoid new victims. Different regions of the country are also under emergency states because of the winter wave.
