Colombian Minister of Defense: "We are not a threat"

Speaking from Quito, where he will attend the Unasur meeting for ministers of defense of member countries, Gabriel Silva, Minister of Defense, has stated that he will ask the other countries to respect Colombia's sovereignty and explain the country's situation. Colombia, he said, is not seeking an arms race because it is a country with few resources and an internal enemy. He will aso speak about the military base agreement with the United States which according to him, will aid the regional fight on terrorism. Jaime Bermudez, Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs, will also attend the summit.
